Remembrance Sunday is 8 November 2026, and Chichester’s service is held at the war memorial in Litten Gardens. Chichester City Council organises it every year on the second Sunday of November. Last year’s service began at 11am. The council has not yet posted this year’s arrangements; it announced last year’s on 4 November, five days before the service.

How the day runs

From the city council’s Remembrance page: the Mayor leads the council from the Council House to the war memorial in Litten Gardens, joined by civic dignitaries, ex-service groups, serving armed forces, the emergency services, youth organisations and community groups.

After the service the organisations march past the Mayor, who takes the salute at Eastgate Square. The parade then forms up on both sides of East Street and the civic party walks back to the Council House through the ranks. For a view of the march past, East Street and Eastgate Square are the places to stand.

Last year’s service

The council’s 2025 announcement set the service for Sunday 9 November 2025 at 11am in Litten Gardens. Its order of service, also available as a printable PDF, ran in this order:

  1. The Exhortation, read by a Royal British Legion representative
  2. The Last Post, then the two-minute silence, then Reveille
  3. The Kohima Epitaph
  4. The service, led by the Reverend Canon David Nason
  5. The laying of wreaths at the war memorial
  6. The hymn “O God, our help in ages past”, a reading by the Mayor, prayers and the Lord’s Prayer
  7. The National Anthem, the blessing, and “Sussex by the Sea”

Joining the parade

In 2025 the council put out a call to veterans inviting them to march, with parade call times “confirmed closer to the date”. Veterans registered by emailing administration@chichestercity.gov.uk. Expect the same route for 2026, but wait for this year’s notice before you plan.

Armistice Day

Armistice Day itself, 11 November, falls on Wednesday 11 November 2026. The city council’s Remembrance page describes only the Sunday service; we have found no separate 11 November ceremony published for the city.
